Mission

The mission of the Associate Degree Program is to educate and form students through a cross-disciplinary curriculum that will serve as the foundation for further academic pursuits or career advancement.

Declaration of Major

A student may declare the Arts and Sciences degree with the desired track at any time, but must meet with a faculty advisor to help develop his/her individual degree plan. Requirements for acceptance into the program are the same as for acceptance to Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University.

Graduation Requirements

An overall grade point average of 2.0 (out of 4.0), including all transfer courses;

All students must meet residency requirements by completing a minimum 24 credit hours at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University, including one service learning project; and

Clearance of all indebtedness to the University including the return of all materials borrowed from the University library.

History and Purpose

In the summer of 1997, the Associate of Science Degree in Arts and Sciences was established. The Associate of Science Degree provides foundational courses in arts and sciences, demonstrating the University’s commitment to life-long learning through programs designed to further enhance academic, personal and professional growth, and the continuation of higher education and scholarly pursuits.

Enrollment

Students may enroll in arts and sciences courses for the spring, summer, and/or fall semesters. Course offerings may vary each semester. A current course listing will be published prior to pre-registration in the fall and spring. Students may take courses on a full-time or part-time basis.

Application Procedures

Students should complete the regular online application indicating Arts and Sciences as the selected program. Any questions related to the online application process should be addressed through the Admissions Office at 225-768-1700. Interested persons may submit applications at anytime during the year. However, in order to ensure timely processing, applications should be submitted by the priority deadline date in the spring for summer and fall, and fall for spring semester. It is the applicant’s responsibility to verify the status of their application and provide all required documentation.

Financial Assistance

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University has financial aid counselors available to assist students with the financial aid process. All students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form available at www.fafsa.ed.gov preferably by all applicable priority deadline dates. Transferability

See Transfer Equivalencies regarding transferability of courses taken at other regionally accredited colleges and universities. A final grade of C or better must be earned in courses to be transferred. Credit for university level achievement may be awarded through the CLEP and/or ACT/PEP examination. Further information regarding transfer of credit can be obtained at the Office of Admissions.
