This course examines the topics of both laboratory education and research. The education topics examined in this course include teaching and learning strategies, instructional design, competency-based education, the development of appropriate grading rubrics, and test development/analysis. Blooms taxonomy levels are used to develop objectives and test questions. Objectives are developed using Roger Magers format. The research component of this course begins with a discussion of the various types of quantitative and qualitative research designs. Elements of the research process including research questions/ hypotheses, the literature review, data collection, and data analyses/ interpretation are discussed and applied to the field of Clinical Laboratory Sciences. This course may be offered with an integrated service learning experience.
