FranU CARES - Compassion, Assessment, Reinforcement and Encouragement
Counseling Services incorporates “Compassion, Assessment, Reinforcement, and Encouragement” Our C.A.R.E. philosophy puts students first and ensures that every student is treated with compassion and encouragement, whose needs are properly assessed, and treatment plans positively reinforced.
Feeling stressed out? You're not alone. College can be fun, but it can also be very difficult to juggle school, work, family and friends.Like most people, you probably know ways to cope with stress. But if you start feeling overwhelmed or anxious, seeing a counselor can help you find practical solutions to personal and/or academic problems.
The Office of Counseling Services, housed under Student Affairs, staffs Licensed Professional Counselors. These counselors provide assistance, support, assessment of problems, and for all Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University students’ mental health needs and/or other personal counseling issues (at no cost to the student). Referrals are made when necessary. The student is responsible for all fees incurred once referred.
A professional counselor can help you identify, understand and develop skills to resolve your educational, career and personal issues. He or she will assist you in learning how to find your own pathway to success in college and in the workplace.
Our counselors are licensed professionals. They offer crisis intervention; brief, solution-focused counseling; and referrals to other agencies or services. Professional counselors provide personal counseling with a focus on positive mental health and wellbeing; both in individual and group settings.
Counseling services are always free for current FranU students and available by appointment. Our licensed professional counselors can help with issues including:
Our services are in accordance with the American Counseling Association Guidelines. Counseling records are not part of any other University records, and we require a signed release to release any information.
