Do you offer credits for work experience?

No, unfortunately we do not. We do, however, have a generous transfer credit policy that allows you to potentially transfer up to 90 credits towards your bachelor’s degree.

Do you offer proficiency credits?

No, however, you may transfer up to 90 credits based on your prior education experience in you associate’s degree program.

Do you accept credits from courses taken a long time ago i.e. 20 years or more?

Credits are reviewed on a case by case basis by our admissions team. If you have questions feel free to contact an Enrollment Advisor at 877-242-3509.

What courses transfer from _______ College/University?

Will your courses transfer to other institutions?

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is fully accredited. Please contact the college or university you are planning to attend for guidance on what FranU courses will transfer.

What does it cost to attend?

Tuition is charged by credit hour for all programs of study. Fees are charged per credit hour or per semester, depending on the fee. For additional information, please visit our Tuition & Costs page for more information. 

Is financial aid available?

Many of our students receive financial aid in the form of grants, scholarships and loans. FranU also participates in the Taylor Opportunity Program for Students (TOPS) program and the Louisiana Go Grant program. Please visit our Financial Aid page for more information. 

What is FAFSA? When should I submit it?

FAFSA stands for Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Submit your FAFSA as soon as possible so that we may process your application in a timely fashion. Do you offer an LPN (licensed practical nurse) or ADN (associate degree in nursing) to BSN program?

No, unfortunately we do not, we do however, take pride in helping our RN to BSN program participants and graduates the support they need to fulfill academic as well as professional goals.

I’ve never taken online classes. How do I prepare myself for online learning?

Online classes at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University require self-management. You learn at a location and time most convenient for you, which means you must be self-directed.

What about the clinical component of my degree?

Many students complete their clinical components at their place of employment, your faculty member can provide more information. 

How do I go to class?

You go to class by logging in and accessing course materials through an internet capable device such as a computer, smartphone or tablet. Lectures, books and other materials are accessed online where you can read, listen to or watch them. Assignments are typically completed online as well, though you may work on them when not logged in.

How big are the classes?

The classes are completely online so you’ll be working in cohorts that could be large and small. However, you can participate individually as well as contribute to group discussion at your own pace and time while maintaining a professional life.

How often are courses offered?

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University offers five entry points per year.

How often will I go to class?

There are no mandatory login times. You can login to read lectures or complete coursework as needed.

Do you offer classes on the weekend and weekdays?

As a 100% online program, you can take classes on your schedule, weekdays or weekends.

Am I required to take a certain amount of classes each term?

You can take as many courses as you like.

Are campus visits required?

No - Courses are 100% online.

What are your application requirements?

Online RN-BSN Application Requirements:

  • Diploma or associate degree from an ACEN or CCNE-accredited nursing program

  • A minimum 2.0 GPA

  • Permanent, active and unencumbered registered nurse licensure

What are the technology requirements for online students?

Online students should have basic computer skills, Internet access, and the ability to send email, navigate the Internet and install software. Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University courses use Moodle, a Learning Management System, for online learning. The minimum technical specifications needed to participate in an online course are listed below.

The computer should be able to support one of the following operating systems:

  • Windows
  • Macintosh OS X

The computer should have the following hardware:

  • Computer Memory or RAM at or above the recommended amount for the operating system
  • Sound card and speakers
  • Web cam and microphone

The computer should have the following free plug-ins installed to enhance the online experience:

  • Adobe Acrobat Reader
  • Adobe Flash Player
  • Java 1.4 or higher

The computer should have one of the following web browsers installed:

  • Internet Explorer
  • Mozilla Firefox
  • Google Chrome
  • Safari

The computer should have the following productivity software installed:

  • Microsoft Word
