Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University School of Nursing faculty answered the call for assistance with the COVID-19 vaccination program at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. Valerie Schluter, Cindy Schneider, and Tabitha Jones-Thomas put their nursing skills to use by administering vaccines to front line workers at the Medical Center.
The first vaccines were administered in the two weeks before Christmas and the clinic will continue through the new year. The Pfizer vaccine, the first to receive FDA approval, was welcome relief for staff of the Medical Center who have put up a courageous fight against this pandemic since March of 2020.
School of Nursing faculty demonstrated their commitment to the Franciscan values by providing service to our healthcare community in solidarity with our partners at OLOL Regional Medical Center.
Cindy Schneider commented, “It was such a privilege to be offered the vaccine and I felt fortunate to have the time to offer to give injections to others. The best part about giving the injections was seeing the commitment to making the community healthier.”
Tabitha Jones-Thomas reflected, “It was great to be a part of the COVID-19 vaccination team. It gives us hope for normalcy in the future.”
