Experience a supportive and caring education at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FranU). Innovative programs, personalized student attention, and service-based learning prepare you to make a difference in our community and the world. Step into a future of service, friendship and joy.
FranU has a strong tradition of forming highly qualified and ethical professionals at the associate, baccalaureate, master’s and doctoral levels. Whether in the School of Arts and Sciences, the School of Health Professions or the School of Nursing, students can expect a hands-on education that prepares them to be compassionate, skilled leaders in their community.
At the heart of FranU’s approach is a commitment to experiential service-learning. Students collaborate with local partners through special courses focused on finding solutions to our area’s most pressing needs.
Our state-of-the-art Simulated Environment Teaching Hospital (SETH) provides rigorous clinical training in a controlled setting.
FranU graduates enter the workforce prepared to function at the top of their abilities and for a fraction of the cost — our tuition is 18% lower than the national median cost for comparable four-year schools.
We are proud of what we have achieved in our first 100 years and are excited to continue being Louisiana’s premier Catholic university for the next century and beyond.
Our academic programs span nursing, allied health professions, arts, sciences and business fields. Accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), our innovative curriculum equips students to forge their unique professional path.
A FranU education produces results. In 2021, our pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing students achieved a 100% first-time pass rate on the NCLEX exam, as did our graduating class in the MSN-Family Nurse Practitioner program. That same year, Intelligent.com named FranU the Best College in Louisiana for Nursing.
Since 2017, we have added six new academic programs, further advancing our goal of providing relevant education today for tomorrow’s servant leaders.
Students participate in engaged learning through cutting-edge educational technology like the Anatomage Table, an anesthesia skills and simulation lab, and a physical therapy gym.
We also have SETH, our 10,000-square-foot Simulated Learning Environment Teaching Hospital for the School of Health Professions and the School of Nursing. SETH boasts seven simulation suites, three debriefing rooms and a virtual reality suite.
A longstanding partnership with the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Health Systems — one of the largest healthcare systems in Louisiana — provides students with essential clinical practice in a wide variety of healthcare settings.
This year, FranU established a new partnership with the FMOL Health System and HOPE Ministries to rapidly expand the number of nurses in the state. This program, which allows FranU to add an accelerated BSN cohort in January 2024, expands clinical sites for students and increases student support services.
