What Makes FranU Different?
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is one of the oldest Franciscan universities in the United States and the only one in the Southern region. It offers doctorate, master’s, baccalaureate and associate degrees with a distinctive focus on healthcare. Students benefit from tuition assistance and scholarship opportunities, 10,000 square feet of state-of-the-art simulated learning spaces for clinical experience, and the only institution in Louisiana with three digital cadavers for anatomy instruction. The university is affiliated with Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center and other healthcare facilities and embraces an engaged learning approach through service-learning with 130 community partners across 17 parishes.

Academic Requirements for Admission Generally Include
Entering Freshmen
Graduate from an accredited high school, obtain a GPA of 2.5 or better on the TOPS core curriculum or have a GED score of 500 or better and a minimum ACT composite of 20.
Transfer Applicants
Must obtain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on all college work attempted. Students with less than 30 credit hours need to meet entering freshman requirements.

Transfer Policies
While FranU does accept transfer students, please visit the transfer equivalencies page to learn more about what courses are transferable to the University. If you have further questions about transferring courses from another institution, please contact the Office of Admissions by phone at (225) 526-1700 and make an appointment to meet an Admissions Analyst to review your transcript.
In addition, our courses are also transferable to other universities, as we are a fully accredited institution. Please contact the institution you are transferring to in order to verify transferable credits.

Ways FranU Can Support Prospective Students
A Wide Range of Degree Programs
FranU offers a wide variety of associate, bachelor’s and master’s degrees in over 25 areas, including arts and sciences, nursing and medical laboratory sciences.
Small Class Sizes and Adaptable Schedules
To provide students with the personal attention they need to succeed, we keep class sizes from 17 to 20 students. In addition, to help students with busy schedules or who work part-time, we offer classes on weekdays, evenings and Saturdays, as well as online programs.
Tutoring to Help You Reach Academic Success
Tutoring is a free service to all FranU students, with no limit to the number of sessions. Tutoring is available for course study, as well as for program placement and state licensing exams.
Career Development Tools and Resources
We have a career planning specialist who can assist students with writing cover letters and résumés, interview coaching and job search strategies. Several times a year, the University hosts a Career Fair that connects graduates with employers throughout the Greater Baton Rouge area.
