When high school student Charles Schudmak enrolled in the Dual Enrollment Program at FranU, he wasn’t just looking for college credit, he was looking for a place to grow.

For Schudmak, FranU’s Dual Enrollment Program was the obvious choice.

“The size of the community offered a lot more of a personable learning experience. Being homeschooled myself, seeing FranU's support of Dual Enrollment homeschool students helped make FranU an easy option.”

The University’s Dual Enrollment program allows qualified high school students to take University courses for college credit, giving them a head start on their degrees while simultaneously adjusting to college life.

“FranU provided me a stellar opportunity to adapt to college pacing in a safe and friendly environment,” he explained. “Having this excellent experience is sure to be impactful for my future education.”

In his first semester, the dual enrollment student chose courses that reflected his passions. As someone whose hobby is writing, he enrolled in one of FranU’s many writing classes. However, despite his love to write, he also finds the mind fascinating. The psychology course he took was a personal favorite.

Apart from academics, there were many highlights in Charles’ first semester. For instance, he made connections with other students that extended outside of the classroom.

“The friends I made challenge me academically, helping me improve my grades further. Fortunately, I'm proud of the grades I've been getting so far, but having these friends has boosted the scores I made too.”

For Charles, the Dual Enrollment program wasn’t just about coursework. It was about discovering how capable he could be with the right environment. “Try not to stress,” he advises incoming students. “The community is a blessing, and the professors are superb! If you can make a schedule for the work and take notes, college will be something you look forward to.”

FranU’s Dual Enrollment program offers ambitious high school juniors and seniors the opportunity to earn college credit in a supportive, community-based environment. With a commitment to student success, FranU helps students transition confidently into college life.
