This badge is designed to increase knowledge of Catholic healthcare issues, build confidence in handling ethical issues in the clinical practice setting, and increase clinical reasoning competence.
 

Enrollment Requirements

Current or previous enrollment in IPGC 6125 (graduate students); Current or previous enrollment in *PHIL 2320 or THEO 3345 (undergraduate students).

*An online REACH Module is also required for students who have taken PHIL 2320. The REACH module will begin on Feb 23.

Spring 2026 REACH Badge

  • REACH Badge Registration Deadline: The 2026 REACH Badge program will begin accepting students on January 12 through SoftDocs. Eligible students considering the REACH badge should register early since the program can accept only 20 students total in Spring 2026. Students interested in the badge with a December 2026 anticipated graduation date should participate in Spring 2026, since we are only planning on offering the program annually at this time.
  • FranU Bioethics Lecture Series: Students must attend one of the scheduled FranU Bioethics Lecture Series events in the Spring 2026 semester. Dr. Mariele Courtois of Benedictine College will give two presentations at FranU in St. Francis Hall.
    • Wednesday, March 18, at 6:30 p.m. | AI in Catholic Healthcare and Healthcare Education: Its Risks and Benefits
    • Thursday, March 19, at 9 a.m. | The Ethics of Genetic Technologies at the Beginning of Life 
  • REACH Badge Ethics Intensive: Students must attend the full day-long ethics Intensive, designed to deepen their understanding of ethical principles in practice.
    • Saturday, May 9, from 8 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
