The Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FranU) is responsible for overseeing the use of animals and animal facilities, and for the review of basic science and biomedical research and teaching activities involving animals conducted at, or in association with FranU.
 

The FranU IACUC ensures that animal care and use follow all federal, state and local regulations. The basis of compliance is determined by the Federal Animal Welfare Act and Animal Welfare Regulations (AWAR), the Institute for Laboratory Animal Research (ILAR) Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, the Guide for the Care and Use of Agricultural Animals in Research and Teaching, the Public Health Service (PHS) Policy on the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), Good Laboratory Practices and other applicable regulations.
