Scholarship Opportunities That Support Your Education
Located in Baton Rouge and one of the nation’s most affordable private Catholic institutions, Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is proud to offer several scholarships to incoming students. FranU awards scholarships in the form of tuition exemptions to students meeting certain academic qualifications. Incoming student scholarships are awarded primarily on the basis of high school or college GPA. Upon admission to the University, students will also be automatically considered for the Presidential, Dean’s, and Tau Transfer scholarships. Additional scholarship opportunities for first-time students will be awarded based on specific criteria. All scholarships at FranU are competitive.

The following scholarships are automatically considered with your admission to FranU. Awards may not be combined.
Dean’s Scholarship
The Dean's Scholarship is awarded to 20 outstanding first-time freshmen who are scholastic achievers. The minimum criteria is an unweighted high school grade point average of 3.0 or higher. This award is a scholarship package valued at up to $3,000 annually for a maximum of four years.
Presidential Scholarship
The Presidential Scholarship is awarded to 20 outstanding first-time freshmen who are scholastic achievers and show promise of continuing such performance in college and beyond. The minimum criteria is an unweighted high school grade point average of 3.5 or higher. This award is a scholarship package valued at up to $5,000 annually for a maximum of four years.
Franciscan Peer Leader Scholarship
The Franciscan Peer Leader Scholarship is awarded to 15 outstanding first-time freshmen
who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and leadership skills. The
minimum criteria is an unweighted high school grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Students who meet the criteria will be asked to interview for this competitive award.
This award is a scholarship package valued at up to $6,000 annually for a maximum of four years.
Students who accept this award will be members of the Franciscan Peer Leaders, a prestigious
group of dedicated servant leaders across FranU's campus. These students will also
be invited to a Scholarship Day which attending will give them the opportunity to
compete for the fellowship listed below.
Franciscan Peer Leader Fellowship
The Franciscan Peer Leader Fellowship is awarded to 5 outstanding first-time freshmen who have demonstrated outstanding academic performance and leadership skills, and show promise of continuing such performance at the university and beyond. The minimum criteria is an unweighted high school grade point average of 3.25 or higher. Students who complete an interview, submit a video, and attend Scholarship Day will be considered for this award. This award is a scholarship package valued at full tuition and fees (less TOPS and federal aid) annually for a maximum of four years. Students who accept this award will be members of the Franciscan Peer Leaders, a prestigious group of dedicated servant leaders across FranU's campus.
Tau Transfer Scholarship
The Tau Transfer Scholarship is awarded to 35 collegiate scholars. The minimum criteria is an overall college grade point average of 3.0 or higher for students with 12 or more earned college hours. This award is a scholarship package valued at up to $4,500 annually for a maximum of three years.

Scholarships for Graduate Students
Aside from scholarships for incoming freshmen students, there are also scholarship opportunities for graduate students or students enrolling in specific programs.
Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Sisters Graduate Scholarship
Through support from the Louisiana State Board of Regents and Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center, the FMOL Sisters Graduate Scholarship is awarded to FranU graduate students to help offset their educational expenses.

Title 29 Tuition Assistance (Louisiana State Dependent Tuition Exemption)
While not a scholarship, this state benefit offers tuition support to surviving spouses and dependents of disabled or deceased war veterans. It is intended for use at Louisiana public colleges and universities.
As a private institution, FranU cannot grant the exemption directly. However, FranU will cover any remaining tuition costs for eligible undergraduate students pursuing their first associate’s or bachelor's degree, after all state, university, and federal gift aid has been applied.
Proof of eligibility is required.

San Damiano Scholars Program
The San Damiano Scholars Program is designed to provide educational assistance to selected qualified nursing students ("Recipients") who are enrolled in at least nine (9) hours at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FranU) and are willing to commit to employment at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center (OLOLRMC) following graduation. The San Damiano Scholars Program provides a “forgivable loan” to Recipients who repay obligation by fulfilling a specified employment time commitment at OLOLRMC or by monetarily repaying the loan.
OLOLRMC will underwrite educational expenses for each Recipient for up to $6,000 per semester, up to a maximum of 4 semesters totaling $24,000. The number of Recipients each semester is determined by the CNO/CEO of OLOLRMC in consultation with FranU’s Dean of the School of Nursing. Application deadlines are March 1st for Summer & Fall semesters and October 1st for Spring semester.
Minimum Criteria to be Eligible for Selection as a Recipient:
- Be enrolled as a full-time (9 hours) undergraduate registered nursing student in good standing at the FranU School of Nursing (student may not already be a licensed RN).
- Have completed at least the first semester of coursework toward a registered nurse degree in the FranU School of Nursing.
- 3.0 minimum cumulative grade point average to be considered at the time of application.
- Be a citizen of the United States or qualify for permanent residency according to the United States Citizenship/Immigration Services, a Department of the Homeland Security.
- Be willing to fulfill employment commitment to OLOLRMC following graduation.
- Participate in one or more interviews with representatives from FranU School of Nursing, OLOL Nursing Leadership and OLOL Human Resources.
