Biography

Dr. Mitra is a prinicpal faculty in both the nursing and physician assistant (PA) programs. He graduated with his medical degree in 1982. He practiced as a clinical pathologist for 20 years. He also holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Science and his field of research includes cell biology, hypertension, and heart failure. He was in research for over 12 years. He has been in teaching since 2003. Currently, he teaches the pathophysiological basis of disease in the nursing program, medical physiology in the physician assistant program and also anatomy and physiology at the undergraduate level. He is the current Faculty Senate President.
