Biography
Miriam Holmes became a registered nurse in 2017 after earning a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Southeastern Louisiana University. Since then, she has provided direct patient care in a variety of clinical settings both within and outside the FMOL Health System. In 2022, she joined Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University (FranU) as the Student Health Nurse, and in 2023, she was appointed Director of Health and Wellness. Driven by a commitment to community well-being, chronic disease prevention and health equity, she pursued and completed a Master of Public Health (MPH) from Tulane University in 2024. She is an active member of the American College Health Association (ACHA) and currently serves on the executive board of the Southwest College Health Association (SWCHA), a regional affiliate of ACHA. In her current role as Director of Health and Wellness, Miriam focuses on fostering a culture of health and well-being across the FranU community through health promotion, improving student access to health resources,and implementing evidence-based health initiatives and policies.
