FranU Invites High School Students to Explore Their Calling Through Summer Programs
May 14, 2026
FranU will host four summer programs designed to help high school students explore their vocation while experiencing the University’s Franciscan mission of service, faith and community.

Summer at FranU will take place June 11-12 and will provide students with a two-day residential campus experience. Participants will engage in activities inside FranU’s Simulated Environment Teaching Hospital, attend a mock theology lecture and connect with other high school students. The program is limited to 60 students and includes meals and a T-shirt with registration.
The Franciscan Experience (TFE) Summer Institute will be held July 13-18 for high school underclassmen interested in theology, mentorship and service. The six-day residential program will focus on faith formation, community and the Catholic intellectual tradition while introducing students to campus life at FranU.
FranU will also host the Louisiana HOSA Future Nurses Program July 20-23 in partnership with Louisiana HOSA. The four-day program is designed for high school sophomores and juniors interested in nursing careers. Participants will explore patient care, health issues, study skills, job readiness and postsecondary education through hands-on learning experiences rooted in compassionate care.
The Great Books Summer Institute will take place Aug. 7-8 and will center on the theme “Friendship and Fellowship.” Hosted by FranU’s Great Books program, the institute will feature seminar discussions, lectures, readers’ theater and recreation focused on classical and contemporary texts. Authors studied may include Aristotle, St. Thomas Aquinas, J.R.R. Tolkien and Zena Hitz. Activities will be led by FranU faculty and students.
