July 27, 2026

Starting college comes with excitement, but it can also bring new challenges. Between coursework, jobs and family responsibilities, students often have a lot to balance.

To help students navigate every stage of their college journey, FranU has launched a new Student Success Team. The team will provide personalized guidance, connect students with campus resources and offer proactive support from the day they’re enrolled to graduation.

Our goal is for every student to feel a sense of belonging and feel supported and empowered to succeed," said Shera Adams, student success project director. "Rather than having to determine where to seek help on their own, students will be connected to appropriate resources and support systems through proactive outreach, regular check-ins and coordinated interventions."

Support Throughout the Student Journey

Beginning with enrollment, the team will help students transition into college by building relationships and connecting them with the resources they need. As students progress through their academic programs, the team will continue to provide guidance and help address challenges before they become obstacles.

Students can receive support in areas such as:

  • Academic coaching
  • Success planning and goal setting
  • Time management and study skills
  • Referrals to tutoring and academic support services
  • Career readiness guidance
  • Connections to campus and community resources
  • The team will also monitor student progress and reach out when additional support may be beneficial, helping students stay on track toward their educational goals.

A Personalized Approach

Instead of navigating college resources alone, students will have access to dedicated professionals and peer mentors who can help connect them with the right services at the right time.

Whether a student is experiencing academic challenges, financial concerns, personal difficulties or simply needs guidance, the Student Success Team will serve as a central point of support.

This personalized approach recognizes that today's students often balance multiple responsibilities outside the classroom while pursuing their degrees.

A Campus-Wide Commitment to Student Success

Student success is a shared responsibility across the University. The Student Success Team will work closely with faculty, academic leadership, student affairs and other campus departments to ensure students receive coordinated support.

Faculty and staff will be able to connect students with the team when concerns arise, allowing interventions to happen earlier and helping students access resources before challenges become barriers to success.

As graduation approaches, the team will also collaborate with career services and academic departments to help students prepare for the next step in their professional journey.

Supporting Project FRANCIS

The Student Success Team is a key component of Project FRANCIS, the University's Title III initiative focused on strengthening student success infrastructure and improving retention and graduation outcomes.

Through personalized guidance, early intervention and coordinated support services, the team advances FranU's commitment to educating and forming Franciscan servant leaders while fostering student achievement, belonging and long-term success.
