The Bishop’s Circle: Advancing FranU’s Mission

The Bishop’s Circle is built on a simple idea: when people believe in FranU, they show up in consistent, meaningful ways. Through this giving community, donors help sustain the University’s mission and invest in the success of FranU students. 

Membership in the Bishop’s Circle is recognized by a minimum pledge of $1,000 per year for three years to the St. Francis Annual Fund, with the option to designate gifts to other needs across campus. Inspired by the legacy of the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady Sisters, the Bishop’s Circle honors the unwavering dedication and faith that has defined the University since its founding. Through this shared commitment and inspired by FranU’s patron saint, members come together in a tangible way to advance the mission of educating and forming Franciscan servant leaders of all faiths.

The Bishop’s Circle strengthens the foundation of the University. Gifts to the St. Francis Annual Fund directly impact students by supporting academic programs, fostering campus growth and creating scholarship opportunities that help shape students into faith-filled servant leaders who will go on to transform their communities.

Mike and Jeanette Rolfsen, among the first group of Bishop’s Circle members, say the opportunity to join resonated with them immediately. “When the formation of the Bishop’s Circle was announced, we were excited to join because it gave us the opportunity to socialize and meet with others who support FranU,” Mike said.

As a physician and FranU Board of Trustees Member, he has seen firsthand the value of an education that prioritizes both excellence and ethics. “FranU does an outstanding job of making sure the student understands not just the science of health care but the moral parameters that guide it,” he said.

For Jeanette, the University’s growth and culture stand out most. “FranU is an amazing campus that has grown from a small School of Nursing to a much larger University with a broad curriculum,” she said. “What touches my heart is the love and caring nature of the staff working there who exude a true faith-based ‘I care’ attitude towards the students. It is also exciting to watch the beauty of the campus as it unfolds and continues to expand.”
