Creating a Legacy of Service: Harrah Shiflet

February 23, 2026

Harrah Shiflet does not see science as the study of cells and systems, but a path towards serving others.

Pursuing a Biology degree with a minor in chemistry, Shiflet is preparing for a career that combines science and service.

“I’ve always been fascinated by how the body works,” she said. “This program challenges me to think critically and apply science to real-world health problems.”

As a Senator in the Student Government Association, she focuses on improving the student experience through new initiatives and campus engagement.

Her favorite part about being involved, she said, is the sense of accomplishment that comes with creating positive change.

The opportunity to change things and allow for a better future is what leaves a great legacy. We are helping not only ourselves in the endeavors we accomplish, but also the many to follow in our footsteps.”

Shiflet also serves as President of Beta Sigma Mu, FranU’s Biology Club, where she hosts MCAT prep workshops and organizes community service events for her fellow scientists. In addition to her role in the Biology club, she participates in volunteer activities and service-learning projects that combine leadership with science education.

When asked why future students should chose FranU, she said this:

I would recommend FranU because it offers personalized education, strong values and endless opportunities to grow as both a student and a leader. It’s the perfect place for anyone passionate about healthcare, service and making a difference in the lives of others.”

Shiflet’s story reflects the type of purpose-driven education where every lesson leads back to serving others.
