FCPD provides workforce training and continuing education opportunities through workshops, online courses, certifications and specialized training programs. Its three new healthcare programs combine online instruction with in-person skills training and clinical experiences to prepare learners for essential healthcare roles.

FranU is responding to Louisiana’s healthcare workforce needs by creating practical, accessible pathways into essential patient-care service roles,” said Dr. Brian Rash, executive vice president of academic and student affairs and provost at FranU. “These programs give learners the opportunity to earn recognized credentials leading to immediate employment, develop professional and people skills employers are yearning for and build a foundation for continued education and career advancement.”

The EEG Technician Training program is a one-year hybrid program combining online instruction with in-person skills training and clinical experiences in electroencephalography (EEG), a diagnostic procedure that measures electrical activity in the brain. The program is designed to prepare students to be eligible to sit for the American Board of Registration of Electroencephalographic and Evoked Potential Technologists (ABRET) certification examination. The first cohort is planned for summer 2027, with registration dates to be announced.

The PCT Training program offers a stackable pathway combining certified nursing assistant (CNA), phlebotomy, electrocardiogram (EKG) and patient-care training (PCT). Students develop skills in direct patient care, clinical documentation, safety and professional communication. Prior CNA or phlebotomy credentials may shorten the training pathway. The next cohort begins Jan. 25, 2027. Registration runs Nov. 23, 2026, through Jan. 22, 2027.

The Radiation Therapy program, in development and in partnership with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, is a one-year hybrid program designed to address regional oncology workforce needs. The program is intended for working radiologic technologists seeking to advance their careers and offers a flexible format built around students’ work schedules. The first cohort is planned for summer 2027. There will be more information to come at a later date.
