FranU Holds Ribbon Cutting for Renovated Health Professions Building

Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University celebrated the completion of its newly renovated School of Health Professions Building with a ribbon cutting ceremony on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Health Professions Building on campus.

The event marked the conclusion of a $2 million renovation designed to enhance interdisciplinary learning, expand hands-on clinical training and strengthen FranU’s mission to form Franciscan healthcare leaders.

“This is far more than a building upgrade; it is the creation of a dynamic environment designed to shape the next generation of highly skilled, collaborative and compassionate healthcare leaders,” said Jeffrey Thompson, Dean of the School of Health Professions.

Following the ribbon cutting, Reverend Michael G. Duca, Bishop of Baton Rouge, offered a blessing over the space.

Guests will have the opportunity to tour the renovated building. Franciscan Peer Leaders guided visitors through the facility while program directors gave presentations on their individual spaces.

Government officials, community leaders, healthcare partners, alumni, faculty, staff and students were invited to attend.

The updated building includes student-centered classrooms, advanced laboratories, a rehabilitation gym, a Research and Innovation Laboratory and collaborative study spaces that support holistic student formation.

“Overall, this revitalized building unites our health disciplines, fosters a stronger sense of community and support and fundamentally reinforces FranU’s commitment to forming professionals who lead with skill, integrity and servant leadership in the service of others,” said Dean Thompson.
