Disability Services
FranU is committed to ensuring equal access to education for all students. In compliance with the Rehabilitation Act (1973, Section 504), the Americans with Disabilities Act (1990, ADA), and the ADA Amendments Act (2008, ADAAA), we provide reasonable accommodations so that qualified students with disabilities can fully engage in their studies.
Under the ADA/ADAAA, a disability is defined as:
-
A physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities;
-
A record of such an impairment; or
-
Being regarded as having such an impairment.
Reasonable accommodations may include academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, or modifications to policies. Accommodations do not include adjustments that:
-
Pose a direct threat to the health and safety of others,
-
Substantially change essential elements of the curriculum or academic standards, or
-
Impose an undue financial or administrative burden on the University.
Students seeking accommodation should contact the Office of Student Affairs at 225-526-1620 to schedule an appointment with a counselor. Documentation request forms (for ADHD, learning, psychological or physical/medical disabilities) are available through the Student Affairs section of SoftDocs.
Our Commitment to You
At FranU, we are here to walk alongside you in your journey. Whether you are seeking counseling support, requesting disability accommodations, or simply looking for guidance, our office is dedicated to creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment where you can flourish as a student and as a person.
