Clinical Phase Handbook

Physician Assistant Student Organization (PASO)

The Physician Assistant Student Organization (PASO) was established in Summer 2016. The purpose of this organization is to unite and support the Physician Assistant students at the university. Additionally, the organization advocates for the Physician Assistant profession within the school, local community, and the state of Louisiana.

The Mission of PASO is to give back to the local community with our time, talents and gifts. In 2016, the PASO Board voted to support the Our Lady of the Lake Children’s Hospital as its annual philanthropy.

Highlights during PASO’s Inaugural year:

• Won the AAPA PA week photo contest
• Featured article in the Physician Assistant Education Association’s “12 Ways PAEA Members Celebrated PA Week”
• Engaged in fundraising activities that generated $4,000 for philanthropic and student needs
• Competed in, and won first and second place in the Student Quiz Bowl at the 2016 LAPA conference in New Orleans, LA
• Volunteered at the Children’s Hospital Trick-or-Treat Trail
• Participated in the 2016 university Turkey Bowl; placed second
• Created a video for the Mannequin Challenge
