Contemporary Issues in Health Information Systems

This course explores the assessment, planning, and implementation of information technology projects. This course also provides the student with an overview of the health care information systems with a specific focus on Electronic Medical Records" (EMRs) and the role of health information technology in supporting business decisions. This course will expose students to the concepts and knowledge involved in making strategic use of information technology (IT) in health care organizations. It will clarify how to establish IT linkages to business, planning, and governance. In addition it will introduce students to technology management through the analysis of the lifecycle of IT, IT architecture, systems. This course may be delivered in a blended or online format.
