As a way of expanding our REACH initiative at FranU, we are offering a new faculty learning community this year. REACH Virtue Ethics for Educators & Clinicians. All faculty and staff are invited to join! Of special focus will be the virtue of moral resilience and its importance for those experiencing moral distress.
For our first meeting, let's read and discuss the article by Bliss et al, "A Role for Virtue in Unifying the 'Knowledge' and 'Caring' Discourses in Nursing Theory." This article can function as a conversation starter for us to discuss virtue ethics in general, including the notion of intellectual and moral virtues, the role of the emotions in forming virtues, and the way in which virtue ethics might enable us to bring together the 'knowledge' and 'caring' dimensions of nursing in particular and other clinical practices in general. The article will be sent out to all those who RSVP.
Coffee and breakfast pastries will be provided. Please RSVP through this link, or email Dr. Hannah Ragusa at hannah.woldumragusa@franu.edu.
This event will be located in SFH A104(first floor classroom).
