The goal of the Alumni Association Board of Directors is to establish an endowed scholarship, providing tuition assistance for FranU students in perpetuity. A beginning investment of $25,000 is needed to endow the Sister Martha Ann Abshire Alumni Scholarship. A Cajun girl from Crowley, LA, Martha Ann Abshire was called to the religious life and joined the Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady in 1967. Called to a life of service, Sister Martha Ann graduated from Our Lady of the Lake Nursing School and worked as a Registered Nurse at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center in Baton Rouge and then Our Lady of Lourdes in Lafayette. Throughout her ministry Sister Martha Ann has selflessly served. In her ministry in hospitals, in the Mission in Haiti, on the General Council and on the campus of FranU. Sister Martha Ann Abshire’s Franciscan leadership and servant’s heart captivate all whom she encounters.
