  2. Serving the Imprisoned: Teach-In on Mass Incarceration

The Parole Project is a non-profit organization that is "both a human services provider and an advocacy organization, and our wok is leading the way to help rebuild lives and shift public perception about formerly incarcerated people". The evening will include thought provoking information on the work of The Parole Project, the LA criminal justice system, what the Church teaches on those who are imprisoned, and get to hear first-hand from formerly imprisoned citizens who have entered back into society.

The goals of the event are

  1. To provide an opportunity for students to listen and learn about incarceration and re-entry experience of the formerly incarcerated in small listening groups.
  2. To explore how Catholic values and teachings can guide understanding on how to reform our nation's broken criminal justice system and how they guide us to oppose the death penalty.
  3. To help individuals discern how they are being called to respond to mass incarceration.
