Elaine Purdy, PhD

Dr. Elaine Purdy is Assistant Professor and Program Director, Master Health Administration at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University.

Prior to joining Franciscan University, Dr. Purdy held various positions at Vanderbilt and Louisiana State University. She served as Director of Customer Relations and Quality Performance Improvement for Patient Access Services at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and as Director of Recreation and faculty member in the Department of Kinesiology.

Dr. Purdy’s educational background includes a bachelor’s and master in education from Northeast Louisiana State University, an MBA degree from Tulane and a doctorate in healthcare administration from Central Michigan University.


Nicole S. Huff, DHA, MBA, CHC, CHSP

Dr. Huff has more than 20 years of healthcare history driving achievement in the areas of corporate compliance programs, financial accounting, corporate governance, financial statement analysis, mergers and acquisitions due diligence, auditing, earnings management as well as operational improvement and cost containment. Her professional healthcare experiences include working for organizations such as managed care, multi-health systems, community hospitals, behavioral health, and physician practice management.

Dr. Huff also earned a doctor of health administration degree from Central Michigan University. Her doctoral research was on African American breast cancer survivors. An alumnus of Loyola University of Chicago and University of Dallas, she obtained a BBA in accounting and MBA in healthcare administration, respectively. She is certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC), Health Safety Professional (CHSP) and Lean Six Sigma (Green Belt). She resides in Allentown, Pennsylvania with her two children.


David Murungi, PhD

Dr. David Murungi is an Adjunct Professor in the Master Health Administration program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University.

Dr. Murungi’s educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Williams College in Massachusetts as well as a Master of Public Administration and a Ph.D. in Information Systems and Decision Sciences both from Louisiana State University. Dr. Murungi’s research interests focus on the role that health information systems play in the delivery of healthcare. He has also written and published research on the topics of IS Outsourcing Governance, IS Project Control, IS Management Fashions and IS Strategy.
