Why I Chose FranU

  2. Why I Chose FranU

My name is Baylea Douglas, I am 20 years old. I am the oldest of three siblings and I am from Livingston, Louisiana. I am in FranU’s Bachelors of Nursing (BSN) program and just completed my first semester of the clinical nursing program. I have always felt I was called to serve others and had an interest in the medical field, so I became a certified medical assistant in high school. Through my experience as a medical assistant, I realized I wanted to continue my education to become a registered nurse. I thought that nursing was the perfect way to serve God by helping others. A speaker from FranU came to speak at my school and I knew it was the place for me. I love the community that is provided when you attend FranU. I feel at home and have made many life-long friends. I love the smaller classes and the professors who are willing to help you in any way they can. I also believe that an education centered in Christ is so important, especially in a major like Nursing. It makes a huge difference when you enter the clinical setting and interact with patients who maybe having the worst day of their lives. Showing them love and compassion can make such a difference, and I feel FranU does a great job in encouraging academic excellence, as well as the importance of respecting and loving others as God loves us. I am excited to continue my education at FranU this fall!
