FranU's Great Books is sponsoring the Mardi Gras Celebration "Masques and Meter" on Friday, Feb. 28 from 5 pm-7:30 pm! There will be food, fellowship, and poetry discussions for the carnival season. All are welcome to join us in St. Francis Hall and should RSVP using the link below.
There will be King Cake and gumbo as well as mask making for kids from 5-6 pm. Following this, the live poetry reading and discussion will be from 6-7:30 pm. Our guest is Danny Fitzpatrick, the editor of Joie de Vivre Journal whose poems also appear in Dappled Things, New Oxford Review, and Ocean State Review. Danny also has a new translation of Dante's Divine Comedy out, as well Only the Lover Sings (a novel about a family displaced by Katrina), a work on the Sabbath, and several other books of poetry.
