Nursing students who have their sights set on becoming a family nurse practitioner will s find that the expedited entry Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) program at FranU helps them reach their goals faster. We designed this particular entryway and curriculum for those currently enrolled in a BSN nursing program or have graduated from a BSN program within the past year.
The curriculum combines the necessary specialized knowledge with hands-on training through online courses and hybrid learning formats. Students cover classwork in three years and earn real-world experience by completing 750 hours of clinical practicums in a wide variety of healthcare settings. By the time they graduate, they feel prepared to sit for the certifying examination and work as highly qualified advanced practice nurses.

Our faculty members are highly-skilled professionals with diverse backgrounds and a comprehensive blend of clinical practice, content expertise, and educational experience.
Propel your career forward - Designed for current or soon-to-be BSN graduates, the expedited pathway in FranU’s MSN family nurse practitioner program shortens the time between your undergraduate career and your professional goals.
Simplified application process - We waive the application fee for FranU graduates, and we do not require the GRE for admission to the program.
Flexible format - Complete the program in two or three years, depending on prior experience, and easily fit your education into your daily schedule with online and hybrid courses.
Rigorous and effective - In 2021, our FNP students boasted a 100% pass rate on the certification exam.
Join an in-demand industry - Students can expect employment for family nurse practitioners to increase by a whopping 45% in the next decade, as reported by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The RN to FNP program consists of 44 credit hours and 750 hours of clinical practice. Students take courses in advanced health assessment, physiology and pathophysiology, pharmacology, biostatistics, epidemiology and other specialized topics. The courses are sequential and integrated, building upon one another to maximize student learning.
Clinical practicums lie at the core of the program. One of FranU’s distinguishing features is that the program faculty coordinates clinical placements in different healthcare settings, prioritizing rural and medically underserved areas. Faculty strategically match students with preceptors who serve as guides and mentors during their clinical experience.
Other opportunities to apply skills in real-world settings include a scholarly project and a senior seminar that emphasizes preparation for certification and job searching skills.
Students can complete the curriculum in three years. The program meets the requirements for students to sit for the certifying examination and gain the practical know-how to advance in their field.
We gear the expedited entry FNP degree (RN/BSN to FNP) program toward currently enrolled or recently graduated RN-BSN or pre-licensure students.
Admissions requirements reflect this accelerated transition to an MSN program, reducing some of the additional materials for admissions that traditional entry programs require. To apply to FranU’s expedited entry program, we require the following:
All undergraduate transcripts, demonstrating a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher and academic preparedness for advanced sciences and advanced clinical skills.
Baccalaureate degree in nursing from an accredited CCNE, ACEN or CNEA undergraduate nursing institution, completed before the start of the first semester.

A minimum of one year of full-time RN experience prior to starting the practicum courses within the program.

Application and supporting materials are due by September 16 for spring admission. We invite students who meet the requirements to interview and complete an Emotional Intelligence assessment. The cost of the assessment is $70.
FranU’s expedited FNP degree program aims to meet the following goals:

Use technology and information systems to inform clinical practice and evaluate health care quality outcomes. (Essentials Domain 8; CA 5).
