Program Overview
The Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology degree program provides FranU students the opportunity to learn the art and science of medical imaging. Education is provided through didactic, laboratory and clinical experiences.
The mission of the Radiologic Technology program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is to educate and form entry-level radiologic technologists in a faith-based academic community. Students are educated to become competent and compassionate technologists who serve their patients, profession and the community.

Program Highlights

Hands-on learning - In FranU’s Radiologic Technology program (RADT), you’ll have the chance to work in a state-of-the-art simulated learning environment. You will engage with the on-campus energized radiography laboratory including two digital radiographic units and a digital portable radiographic machine. During the clinical portions of the program, you’ll interact with and explore SETH, our unique simulated environment teaching hospital.

A path toward licensure - After completing the program, FranU students are eligible to sit for The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) radiography certification exam. RADT graduates have a 5 year average first time pass rate of 92% for years 2020-2024.

100% employment rate - Our Radiologic Technology program sets students up for success. We’re proud that, in 2024, 100% of students who graduated from the program were employed before graduation.

Professional development opportunities - We’re committed to providing opportunities for personal and professional development. Students are required to participate in and document hours of community service each academic year. Students join a student organization, may serve as an officer, work on committees or participate in community service projects.

Program Mission
The mission of the Radiologic Technology program at Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University is to educate and form entry level Radiologic Technologists in a faith based academic community. Students are educated to become competent and compassionate technologists who serve their patients, profession and the community.

The goals of the Radiologic Technology program include that students will learn to:

Upon completion of the Associate of Science degree in Radiologic Technology, students will be able to:

Apply radiation protection principles in radiographic examinations.

To be considered for admission to the Associate’s Degree in Radiologic Technology program, all applicants must meet the minimum admissions criteria. Admission to the program is a selective process, and meeting the minimum requirements does not ensure admission to the program. Applicants who are not selected must re-apply the following year.
Documentation for your application to the radiologic technology program is due by May 1 to the Office of Admissions.
- Online clinical application with short narrative.
- Documented 20 observation hours, procedures list and evaluation.
- Two letters of recommendation.
- Completion or enrollment in Rad Tech prerequisite courses.
Completed applications will be reviewed during the month of May. The selection committee may request an interview before final decisions are made. Applicants will be notified of their program admission status by late May. Accepted candidates will attend a mandatory Pre-Enrollment session.
There are two ways in which a student can qualify for guaranteed admission into the Radiologic Technology program:
- A student who enters the University as a freshman is guaranteed admission to the desired
program when:
- All prerequisite courses toward the desired degree are taken at FranU with at least a grade point average of 3.2 on all prerequisite coursework.
- All other minimum admission requirements are met.
- A transfer student is guaranteed admission to the desired program when:
- More than 30 hours of required coursework in the desired program (including courses that are in progress at the time of application to the University) are transferred in with at least a grade point average of 3.4 in these courses.
- A grade point average of at least 3.2 is maintained while completing remaining prerequisite courses at the University.
- All other minimum admission requirements are met.
Students transferring in less than 30 hours of coursework may be considered for guaranteed admission. Students falling into this category should call the Admissions office.
* The Radiologic Technology program has a maximum capacity of 28 students in a cohort each year.

Radiologic Technology Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
The Associate of Science in Radiologic Technology degree is designed in two parts. Part one consists of 24 credit hours in the arts and science prerequisite courses and can be completed in semesters one and two. Part two begins upon enrollment to the clinical portion of the program and is 53 credit hours, designed to be completed in five consecutive semesters in which the student enrolls full-time.
Applications for the radiologic technology program are due on or before May 1 for the class beginning in August. A class of 28 may be accepted.
Radiologic technologists (RTs) are employed in hospitals, imaging centers, surgical facilities, physician offices, clinics and urgent cares. Technologists practice in diagnostic radiology, and with additional training, may practice computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and mammography.
Technologists can also practice in ultrasound, nuclear medicine and radiation therapy with additional formalized education and certification.
