REACH Badge

This badge is designed to increase knowledge of Catholic healthcare issues, build confidence in handling ethical issues in the clinical practice setting, and increase clinical reasoning competence.

Enrollment Requirements

Current or previous enrollment in IPGC 6125 or current enrollment in PHIL 2320, THEO 3345, NURS 4750, 4790, or 4795.

Completion Requirements

Spring 2025 Information

  • REACH Badge registration deadline: Graduate students can still register through Friday, March 14
  • FranU Bioethics Lecture Series: Students must attend one of the following events
    • Wednesday, March 19, at 6:30 p.m. in St. Francis Hall
      • Dr. Margaret Chisholm of Johns Hopkins University will speak on "Flourishing in Healthcare Education and Practice"
    • Thursday, March 20, at 9 a.m. in St. Francis Hall.
      • Dr. Margaret Chisholm of Johns Hopkins University will speak on "Flourishing in the Midst of Mental Illness"
  • REACH Badge Ethics Intensive: Saturday, May 10, 8 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. in St. Francis Hall.

Registration

Interested students who meet these enrollment requirements should fill out the Undergraduate (or Graduate) Badge Request Form to enroll in the REACH Badge program for Spring 2025.

Emily Richard, MSN, RN, CNEn

Emily Richard is the REACH Badge contact, helping to enhance knowledge of Catholic healthcare ethics and clinical reasoning. She is an alumna of Franciscan Missionaries of Our Lady University and earned her Master of Science in Nursing Education from Western Governors University in 2019. Certified in Catholic Health Care Ethics, Emily also teaches Nursing Concepts V at FranU. Outside of teaching, she is involved with the Louisiana State Nurses Association and serves as Vice President of the Louisiana Nurse Honor Guard of Greater Baton Rouge.
